Just Chill and Relax

Whether it is the peace of a Passover meal or time staring into a bushveld fire or sitting quietly reading, we all need a time to reflect and gain perspective.  A long weekend such as this, provides the perfect setting to de-clutter our minds and to find perspective to proceed, into the next quarter of the year.  It is almost like giving ones brain a time to vegetate and not to have to think of work and school and finances and crisis' and just to pass the time watching and taking in our surrounds, or the pages of a book and to have a few days where the concerns and worries take second place, to introspection and self or alone time.  It is obvious especially in a world with so many issues, that hiding from the facts and signs, is just being naive and running away from problems do not make them disappear or be there still the following day, but what I am advocating is valuable time to be more focused on your own inner feelings and less on the normal daily chores we normally have to do.  As I write I am staring at a line of ants, some going one way and another going in the opposite direction.  They do this all day and every day seemingly without a choice in the matter and doing the only thing that they know how to do. As humans we are so blessed to have a choice in all things and we are able to become a culmination of our choices.  We can change our choices and we can also go in an opposite direction or we can keep going in the way we are currently moving.  We are in the hands of our mighty maker, but we have been given an eternal hope and a restitution from some of the bad choices we make.  What a valuable and unbelievably selfless opportunity.  It is so important to take times like these when they present themselves and make the most of them - to rejuvenate our beliefs and reflect on the things that have been and make sure we take the important lessons and choices and store them to be ready when the week begins.  Wherever you find yourself, be purposeful in clearing your mind and remember to laugh and unwind and to pray and be still and to take a few extraordinary deep breaths of life.
